Um, Happy Halloween?

Remember that time last October when we visited the Partin Ranch Corn Maze? And, I promised you a post full of pictures? What are your feelings about 'better late than never'?

I blame my pregnant-ness for never getting around to it, but I stumbled on the pictures the other day and I couldn't resist a little trip down memory lane. So here it goes...

We got up bright and early and 34 weeks pregnant so we could get to Partin Ranch for our favorite fall event of the season right when it started. We got a parking spot right up front, and used the cleanest porta potties around (really). Last year Aria was not happy about using the porta potty, but this year she was intrigued and kept asking me questions about it. It was a little bit of a tighter squeeze this year with baby Lincoln still on the inside.

As soon as we could get inside (we were actually early this year!) we made our way to the hay ride. We missed it the previous year because the line got long by the time we got around to it. So, I didn't want to miss it this year. We stopped to visited some of the animals on our way over and then got a seat on the first hay ride of the day. And, I'm really glad we did it because it was a lot of fun. It was a long ride and we got to hang out with the Brahman cattle for a while. They came right over and everything. Cuties.

Aria led the way after that...and what she really wanted to do was jump on the big bouncy pillow. But, as we were going past the horse rides she decided she'd like to do that first. It was a nice big loop around and if I am remembering correctly they went around twice. I have a dozen pictures of super serious face Aria, but she said she loved it and it's one of the first thing she remembers about the trip. Like sister, like brother?

After the horse ride though, there was bouncing! Chris stood on one side and I stood/sat on the other side because it is a rather long bounce pillow (thing). And, Aria just jumped her way from one side to the other over and over before taking a few breaks to play in the sand that the pillow sits on. She even made a friend in the sand. Also, she had a hard time keeping her balance on this pillow in 2015 but was a pro this year (well last year technically). Sniff. Getting so big.

We talked her into doing the corn maze next, before it was too hot. It was chilly in the morning, but the sunshine scared the nice temperatures away. But, first I needed our 'how tall this fall' picture!

By the way, I cannot wait to get one with Lincoln this year!!!

Aria was the leader in the maze...

...until she petered out and we were all lost. Ha. Of course I had to pee by that point, but dad eventually got us to the exit.

Then Aria checked out farm equipment, rode the barrel train, and took a shaved ice break.

It was at this point that Aria saw the zip line. And, she super duper wanted to do it. The line of course was wicked long. Had I known she would have wanted to do the zip line we would have added it to our 'to do first' list. We walked up to the front so she could watch a few kids zip line across so she knew what she was getting herself into. She still wanted to do it so we got in line. Two lemonades later it was our turn. I was convinced she'd change her mind at the last minute...it's pretty high up, but she didn't. Not even a little bit of hesitation. And, she had to walk up the stairs to the platform all by herself.

OK, maybe a little bit of hesitation! This picture is my favorite =)

She loved it so much that she had a huge grin at the other side and came skipping over to us. I'm so glad she did it and loved it. This year we will know to beat the line by hitting it up early.

It was starting to get hot and I was starting to waddle, so we grabbed some BBQ (that we ate in our car with the AC on high) before heading for home.

I had Aria at 34 weeks and 4 days. I was 34 weeks and 4 days into my second pregnancy when we did this trip, so I spent the day mildly concerned that my water was going to break and I'd be an hour and a half away from my hospital. Thankfully that didn't happen, and other than being extra slow I was feeling pretty good. I tried to talk Chris into going back the next day and the next weekend just for the BBQ...but he just wasn't having it.

Can't wait to go again in a few months.

  8. She looks so grown up riding that horse and zip lining! Thankfully Lincoln decided not to make his appearance in a corn field ;) This heat has me looking forward to Halloween, so perfect timing as far as I'm concerned.
